Renegade DietSo you may be wondering, what does the Renegade Diet plan consist of?  Well if you have followed this blog, then you realize that Jason Ferruggia based his Renegade Diet off the old Warrior Diet, by Ori Hofmekler.  The Warrior Diet was a breakthrough in nutritional strategy, and it went against much of what was considered conventional thinking at the time.  Not only was the strategy revolutionary, it was very effective.  Many people used this strategy to get into great shape.  The problem with the Warrior Diet was that it was written for the average dieter.  It did not take into account the extra muscle mass that athletes carry, nor did it allow for the lean muscle mass that athletes wanted to build.  That is Ferruggia, and the Renegade Diet step in.

Jason Ferruggia has a proven track record working with elite athletes.  And has learned over the years, what it takes to build and maintain muscle while reducing body fat.  So as I have said before you can consider the Renegade Diet a Modified Warrior Diet.  It takes the framework of the diet that Hofmekler created, and adapted it for the more advanced fitness community.

The Three Phases of The Renegade Diet

1. The Fasting Phase: Depending on your goals you will fast for 12-16hours a day.  This is where the majority of the fat burning process takes place.  Jason describes how to choose the length of your fast, and how to implement it.

2. The Undereating Phase: This is where you break your fast, and eat your first 1-3 small meal(s) of the day.  There are certain foods that you will need to avoid during this phase to get the most out of this diet.

3. The Overeating Phase: This is the best part of the diet.  After your resistance training you get to indulge, within reason.  Jason shows you which foods to choose to get the most anabolic benefit.  This is the phase of the diet where muscle is built.

Renegade DietThere is a TON of information in this book, so much so that I have had to read it a couple times to totally digest it.  It took quite awhile for me to be sold on the concept of intermittent fasting.  However, from everyone I had talked to intermittent fasting works.  And with Jason modifying it for muscle gain, this is a tremendous nutrition protocol.  One of my favorite parts of the Renegade Diet is that Jason helps you GET HEALTHY.  I can’t stress that enough, and surprisingly, that is something that a lot of dieting plans overlook.  Once you get healthy, everything else becomes easier.   The best part is that the Renegade Diet doesn’t even feel like a diet.
